This week also marked the first time Kyle and Adam shared a room. We might wait a while before trying that experiment again. The kids stayed in my parents' computer room, right next to the living room, where Jennifer and I slept. At first we were concerned that Adam's middle-of-the-night roars would wake Kyle. Instead, Kyle created the most disturbance, as he reacted loudly to every little noise his brother made.
Adam: Wah. Snort.
Kyle: DADDY? DADDY!! DAAAAADDDDDDYYYYYYY!!!! WHERE ARE YOU??
Me: Kyle, go back to sleep. It's okay.
(silence)
Adam: *hiccup*
Kyle: DADDY! DAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDYYYYY!!!!! PICK UP ADAM!
Me: What the? What time is it? Ugh. Kyle, go to sleep. Adam's fine.
(silence)
Adam: snicker, snicker
Kyle: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
Well, at that point Adam would wake up and it would all be over. This kind of thing would happen throughout the night, and by 5:30 or so we'd have Adam sleep in our bed until morning broke, just to keep Kyle quiet. We had hoped that the kids could share a room after nearly a week together, but we were wrong. We're back in New York now, and Adam is back in our room. It would be nice to have them get used to sleeping next to each other, but, for now, we just need the sleep. We'll try again later, maybe when Kyle's a teenager. Or perhaps we could get a mobile home... and just keep it going through the night.
